In a way, it feels like being stuck in the eye of a hurricane. By taking even a small step toward controlling your own circumstances, you can break the negative chain of helplessness – and work towards a healthier mental state.
2. Find An Event To Look Forward To
This is similar to the above step. Helplessness ruins your sense of perspective. You feel as if you have no control over your circumstances, so you focus on what’s happening to you in the present – not what will happen to you in the future.
Finding an event to look forward to such as a wedding, a school event, or a family get-together can help you get past what’s immediate and look towards the future. When you have a positive, fun event to look forward to and to focus on, you can look past your immediate circumstances, which allows you to maintain a healthier mental state.
3. Remember to Love That One Forgotten Person

Most of us forget to love everyone but ourselves. So do remember to appreciate yourself and to avoid being too hard on yourself. You are only human. Do appreciate your efforts and your personality.
This may sound silly, but it works. By focusing on yourself, your good qualities, and your past achievements, you can break past the feelings of helplessness that consume you.
Think about the obstacles you’ve overcome in the past. Think about how you’ve changed in the last couple years. Appreciate the person who you were then – and the person who you have become.
Doing so allows you to trace your own growth – and it proves to you that you can change your circumstances. After all, you’ve done it before, right?
